1st Annual Durham Pet Fair Willy Award

Congratulations to The East Haven Animal Shelter for winning the first inaugural 'Willy Award'.  This award was the result of the many generous contributions from all exhibitors and attendees participating in the Durham Pet Fair held this past May 17th at the Durham Veterinary Hospital.

To apply for the award, Shelters and Rescues were asked to write a short essay explaining how the monetary donation would be best utilized at their facility if awarded. We applaud all of the participating organizations and extend special congratulations the East Haven Animal Control who captured $2,500.00 for first place.  Second place was awarded to the Shiz Tzu and Fur-Babies who collected $500.00 and a $250.00 third place prize was granted to the Friends of the Berlin Animal Shelter. Many thanks are given to all of the contestants for entering in this year’s contest.

Willy would like to thank the Mini Mustangs 4-H Horse Club (left) for donating a trunk load of pet food and supplies. They walked door to door carolling on a rain and soggy Sunday to collect for the animal shelters.

The SACC after school program (below) collected over 200 cat/dog food items for HWF over the holiday season, thank you kids!
