HELP WILLY’S FRIENDS

MEALS ON WHEELS FUND

We've all heard about the Meals on Wheels program which helps support the independence and well-being of homebound seniors by delivering nutritious meals on a regular basis. What many people don't know, or don't realize, is that these recipients often give these meals to their companion pets because they can't afford, or don't have access to, dog or cat food.

Since it is so important that both humans and domestic animals eat food that is appropriate for them, Help Willy's Friends has partnered with a local Meals on Wheels program and is providing cans and bags of food to be delivered for their pets at the same time. This ensures that the recipients eat the meals being delivered to them and that their pets have food appropriate to their species. Currently, HWF works with Meals on Wheels to provide pet food to residents of Durham, Middlefield, Middletown, Portland, Haddam, East Hampton, East Haddam, and Cromwell. We hope to expand our assistance to cover all of Connecticut in the not too distant future.

If you know a Meals on Wheels recipient who may be giving their meals to their companion pets, please encourage them to contact their Meals on Wheels program representative and request pet food deliveries.
