Girl Scout Troop 60026, a Junior (4th grade) troop in Wallingford, organized a pet food drive through their two sister schools, the Wallingford Girl Scout Council and through their friends, family and neighbors to benefit Help Willy’s Friends. The girls made signs, created collection boxes, made announcements over the PA systems in their schools, created emails to their friends and family, and spread the word the old fashioned way too by talking it up! They collected over 500 pounds and 600 cans of pet food and made a difference in many animals’ lives… and they had a wonderful time doing it!

USTA New England Junior player, Graham Alrutz, was looking to pay it forward in late fall of 2011 when he approached someone he knew could make a difference.

“He approached me about collecting donations for my biggest doubles tournament, our annual Guilford Holiday Classic Junior Level 5 Doubles Tournament,” said Chris Marra, Head Tennis Pro at the Guilford Racquet & Swim Club. “I thought it was a great idea and I was excited to help him organize it.”
